Errata Erratum Regarding “Nephrologist-Facilitated Advance Care Planning for Hemodialysis Patients: A Quality Improvement Project” (Am J Kidney Dis. 2016;68[1]:103-109) In the Original Investigation entitled “Nephrologist-Facilitated Advance Care Planning for Hemodialysis Patients: A Quality Improvement Project” that appeared in the July 2016 issue of AJKD (Amro et al, volume 68, issue 1, pages 103-109), there was an error in the reporting of the 12-month survival rate among patients whose nephrologists answered “no” versus “yes” to the surprise question. A total of 39 patients died, 22 in the former group (n 5 50) and 17 in the latter group (n 5 151). Accordingly, in the final paragraph of the Results section, the statement that patients with “physician-predicted lower life expectancy had a cumulative lower 12-month survival rate compared to those with a longer predicted life expectancy (58% vs 92%; P , 0.001.)” should have reported that patients with “physician-predicted lower life expectancy had a cumulative lower 12-month survival rate compared to those with a longer predicted life expectancy (56% vs 89%; P , 0.001.).” Similarly, in the Results section of the abstract, the statement “One-year survival for patients whose nephrologists answered ‘no’ to the surprise question was 58% compared to 92% for those with a ‘yes’ answer (P , 0.001)” should have reported that “[o]ne-year survival for patients whose nephrologists answered ‘no’ to the surprise question was 56% compared to 89% for those with a ‘yes’ answer (P , 0.001).” These reporting errors and corrections do not affect the overall results of the study, and the authors stand by their conclusions.
Erratum Regarding “Spironolactone in Dialysis: What’s Old Is New Again” (Am J Kidney Dis. 2016;68[4]:512-514) In the editorial entitled “Spironolactone in Dialysis: What’s Old Is New Again” that appeared in the October 2016 issue of AJKD (Charytan, volume 68, issue 4, pages 512-514), the phrase “aldosterone-converting enzyme inhibition” appeared in the third paragraph as a result of an editing error; this phrase should have been “angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibition.”
