EVALUATION OF THE SHORT HYDRATION USING ORAL REHYDRATION SOLUTION(ORS)

for renal failure prevention. Therefore short hydration is conducted, but safety is not enough. We report that using oral rehydration solution (ORS) for hydration at the CDDP administration might reduce renal failure experimentally. In this study, we evaluated effect of ORS on renal function for patients with lung cancer received chemotherapy including CDDP. Methods: Infusion of 1700-2150mL on the first day and 0-600mL on days 2-3 were provided as for the hydration. ORS (OS-1, Ohtsuka Pharmaceutical Factory) 1,000mL was ingested on days 1-3. Renal function (serum Cre and eGFR), nausea and vomiting, usability of the ORS were evaluated. Results: Twenty patients received the chemotherapy (CDDP average dosage, 120 mg) of total 52 courses. The significant decline of the average of sCre and eGFR was not found. The discontinuance by the renal function exacerbation was two patients. The compliance of the ORS drinking was almost good. Conclusion: The short hydration using the ORS becomes the useful tool to give safe chemotherapy including the CDDP for an outpatient.
