Postgraduate Courses Day and the World Federation of Vascular Societies Meeting, June 4, 2008 The Postgraduate Courses Day will offer participants the option of choosing from six, three-hour modules on June 4, 2008. Modules feature various topics of importance to the professional development of practicing vascular surgeons. Please note there is an additional fee to attend the Postgraduate Courses Day. The World Federation of Vascular Societies provides a forum for the international exchange of scientific, educational and political issues related to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vascular diseases. This meeting, held June 4, 2008 from 3:00-7:00 pm, features 8 to 10 international speakers discussing scientific topics. American Vascular Association and NHLBI Jointly Sponsored Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award (K08), Application Deadline: June 12, 2008 The American Vascular Association (AVA) and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), DHHS announce a program that will provide supplemental funding to an individual who receives an NHLBI Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award (K08) directed at vascular surgeon scientists in the early stages of their research careers. The objective of the Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award (K08) is to continue the long standing
NIH support of didactic study and mentored research for individuals with clinical doctoral degrees (e.g., MD, DDS, DMD, DO, DC, OD, ND, DVM, PharmD, or PhD in clinical disciplines). This award provides support and “protected time” for an intensive, supervised research career development experience in the fields of biomedical or behavioral research, including translational research. CME Credit Available to JVS Readers Two Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits can be obtained by successfully answering questions about four articles from each issue of the Journal of Vascular Surgery. These articles are selected by the Editors because they contain information relevant to vascular surgery practice, and questions are supplied by the authors that can be answered after reading the articles. Access to the CME questions is free and open to the public. After successfully answering the questions, Journal subscribers can print a CME certificate at no cost. For non-subscribers, there is a $10 fee per examination to receive a certificate of completion. CME accreditation is provided by the Society for Vascular Surgery.
