WAMGROUP makes US acquisition
I
taly’s WAMGROUP has bought Enviro-Care Co, a US headworks company based in Rockford, Illinois, USA. Enviro-Care has been manufacturing liquid/solid separation and solids reduction technology for the wastewater industry since 1972. The company is the exclusive licencee in North America for SAVI Srl, an Italian wastewater treatment equipment company which is also owned by WAMGROUP. Enviro-Care and SAVI have a technology transfer agreement that allows Enviro-Care to manufacture SAVI equipment in the US. WAMGROUP specializes in bulk solids handling and processing equipment. Founded in Modena in 1969, WAMGROUP employs 2100 people at more than 60 locations in 40 countries. The company’s product range includes equipment for bulk solids handling and processing, dust filtration, wastewater treatment, vibration technology and renewable energy generation. “This acquisition was a very logical move for WAM and provides them with immediate entry into the North American headworks market,” said Phil Thompson, president of Enviro-Care. “Our excellent rep force combined with the SAVI product line and WAM’s manufacturing expertise will make us an even stronger player in this market.” “We are very excited about the future potential,” added Thompson. “The WAMGROUP will enable us to move forward aggressively with new products for new applications.”

Evoqua invests in manufacturing and R&D in Massachusetts
E
voqua Water Technologies is building a new production facility in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, USA to meet growing global demand for its products and services. The new Evoqua Tewksbury facility, which will replace Evoqua’s existing manufacturing plant in nearby Lowell, will produce a range
of water treatment products including Ionpure continuous electrodeionization (CEDI) modules; the company’s new electrochemical desalination technology; and Capac impressed current cathodic protection anodes. Evoqua’s R&D centre in Lowell will be expanded into the vacated manufacturing space in order to accelerate commercialization of new technologies. R&D capabilities will include pilot production for new products before being placed into full manufacturing around the world. The expansion is due mainly to increased demand for Evoqua’s CEDI technology. Evoqua’s Ionpure CEDI technology is used in process and product water treatment where reverse osmosis alone cannot provide the purity needed. It is also widely used in the power, electronics and pharmaceutical industries as well as in specialty laboratories. “The range of applications for our CEDI technology is widening and we are seeing the trend accelerate,” said Ron Keating, CEO of Evoqua Water Technologies. “There is a clear movement by OEMs and end users toward this purification method and we are expanding to meet that demand.” “Our expanded advanced manufacturing facilities will help us to keep up with the demand we are feeling as well as shortening lead times with our customers around the world,” added Rodney Aulick, president of Evoqua’s Products and Technologies division. The Tewksbury and Lowell expansions are expected to be operational later this year. For further information, visit www.evoqua.com
NanoSun JV to treat China’s industrial wastewater
S
ingapore’s NanoSun and the China Commerce Group for International Economic Cooperation (CCIEC) have entered into a S$4.3 million joint venture. NanoSun, a Nanyang Technological University (NTU) spin-off, will deploy its advanced membrane technology to treat industrial wastewater in the Qingdao National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, a 20 sq km industrial zone in Shandong. The joint venture partners have taken orders to treat one million litres of wastewater from the textile industry to be delivered by August this year.
