Offline microimage searching The latest in Kodak’s range of microimage terminals has now been launched in the UK. The IMT-50 provides computerassisted retrieval without online interfacing to mainframes. The result is cheaper than a fully online system. An electronic index of images is held on a mini or mainframe. The terminal user interrogates the index, which gives details of the microfilm magazine and the address of the required image. Once the correct magazine has been inserted and the address keyed in, a search can be performed. Prints of the image can be made. There are 17 different search programs. Magnification is possible from 16X to 47X. The microprocessor control also monitors machine functions, giving feedback to the operator, and will give diagnos-
