DUCTNEWS Qualityapprovalprogrammefor filter media DuPont Engineering Fibres has introduced a quality approval programme for industrial hot gas filter media made with “Nomex” “Teflon” and “Tefaire” fibres A certification label identifies filtration products made with the three DuPont fibre types. The primary objective of the programme is to provide end-users and OEM’s with clear and precise identification of high-quality filter media. DuPont has developed the programme in collaboration with filter media manufacturers across Europe meeting high standards for felt and bag production. Filter media made with Nomex meta-aramid fibre, Teflon FIFE fibre and Tefaire, a patented blend of Teflon and glass fibres, provide high performance flue
gas filtration in power stations, incineration plants and other high temperature applications of relevance for air pollution control. Filtration plant OEM’s, plant operators and others working in the field of air pollution control now have additional assurance that filter media with the DuPont quality label will meet controlled safety and high performance criteria. This means that filter bags bearing the programme label will support efforts in ensuring easy and unambiguous identification of quality filter media, visually differentiating them from non-specifiable products. Self-cleaningcentrifugefor coolantrecovery The Auto-Puritan expands Sanbom’s Fluid Recovery Systems by providing a small, portable recycling unit with self-cleaning capabilities. The system permits indefinite fluid reuse by removing solids to 1 pm, tramp oils to less than 0.25%, and by reducing biological contaminants to new-fluid levels. Single-pass purification is accomplished by combination of filtration, high-speed centrifugation and pasteurization.
The Auto-Puritan is able to recover 95% of reusable fluid. The system reduces wastedisposal costs by up to 99%. Maintaining fluid quality improves productivity by reducing downtime for sump cleaning, enhancing tool efficiency and product quality, and reducing worker dermatitis and biocide exposure. Polymerfiltrationsystems The Fluid Systems Division of ICI Corporation has introduced Micronex filtration systems for filtering and improving performance of polyester, nylon, polypropylene, and other high polymers as well as monomers, oligomers and other highly viscous fluids. Designed to ASME code requirements, the in-line and continuous cartridge-type polymer filtration systems remove particles
and gels to five microns with low pressure drop and long on-stream life. The filter elements are constructed of either wire mesh or flbre metal felt media for maximum dirt holding. tion, purification of macromolecules, and pyrogen removal.
