Self-venting circulation pumps for hot oils Dickow’s new NKX pump line replaces its former heat transfer oil circulation pump type NKLs. The outer dimensions of both pump types are identical and therefore interchangeable. The dimensions and performance range of these centrifugal pumps are according to DIN EN 733, which means range is subdivided into different pump sizes in order to achieve best efficiency for all service conditions inside the envelope.

The NKX is used as a circulation pump for hot oils in industrial heating plants/units. The performance range covers capacities up to 400 m3/h and differential heads up to 90 m in 50 Hz services; and capacities up to 2500 US-gpm and differential heads up to 400 ft in 60 Hz services. The bearing bracket with additional air cooler is specially designed to handle heat transfer oil. With this new design the application range of the pump is

now extended to 350°C, without water cooling. That means the pump can now be also used in applications that earlier required double acting metal bellow seal systems. An advantage of the new NKXpump design is that the mechanical seal chamber does not require manual, external filling and venting. As the pump is selfventing there is no need to collect and dispose any spilled oil, and no operating personnel may be

harmed or injured during venting of the hot pump. www.dickow.info/index.php/de

Flexible and efficient geared motors WEG is launching the WG20, a new range of highly versatile modular geared motors. The company says the motors offer worldwide interchangeability and up to 96% energy efficiency across a wide range of industrial applications requiring precise and reliable power transmission. Developed in cooperation with the company’s subsidiary – gear technology specialist Watt Drive the WG20 comes in standardised mounting dimensions to suit both new and existing drive systems, ensuring ease-of-installation and

flexibility when retrofitting. It is designed to cover virtually all international supply voltages thanks to internal voltage switching, which makes it easily interchangeable. Available in energy efficiency classes IE2 and IE3, the motors feature an advanced design, with the pinion directly mounted on to the motor shaft resulting in a two-stage gear unit (in place of the commonly used three-stage unit). Fewer stages mean reduced friction, which translates into lower power and heat dissipation

and thus more efficiency. Additionally, the improved gear geometry featuring optimised gear teeth and high quality ground gear parts ensure low-loss power

transfer and low noise levels, along with reliable performance and extended service life. www.weg.net/uk

The WG20 product line comprises helical, parallel-shaft and helical bevel geared motors with rugged pressure-cast aluminium housings for rated torques from 50 to 600 Nm.

New dampener design for AODD models Blacoh Fluid Control recently announced the launch of its AODDampener specifically designed for air operated double diaphragm (AODD) pump applications. Blacoh’s newly designed AODDampener constructed of 316L stainless steel with a PTFE diaphragm, employs an automatic air control that utilizes the existing compressed air source in an AODD pump system for charging. According to Blacoh engineer David McComb, with this single configuration Blacoh’s new AODDampener is compatible with

over 80% of the existing AODD pump applications in the US. Mr. McComb explained that its new AODDampener’s unique automatic air control works with AODD systems where fluid pressures vary substantially on a regular basis. “With the automatic air control, you don’t have to adjust the dampener’s charge at pump startup or when there is a change in system pressure. Just turn on the pump and the dampener adjusts itself.” Another benefit of the dampener’s automatic air control is that it doesn’t require air unless the

average line pressure in the system changes. Compressed air is costly, so Blacoh designed the AODDampener to work with minimal air consumption. As the fluid line pressure increases, the air charge in the dampener is

increased to match it. When the line pressure drops, the dampener bleeds off charge, keeping the dampener optimally charged for maximum dampening effect. www.Blacoh.com/AODDampener
