Electrically conductive seals in the landing gear, for instance, will ensure that electricity or static is safely dissipated. • Electric charge transfer through the gap between two components can cause sparks or stray current in machinery and systems – for example in electric motors. Flexitallic establishes gasket manufacturing facility in Italy to serve Southern European market place
A
s part of its global development programme, static sealing technology company The Flexitallic Group has strengthened its presence in the European market place by establishing a new gasket manufacturing and distribution centre in Italy. Flexitallic Italy Srl provides a dedicated production facility to serve the entire Southern European market. It has been set up to meet the growing demand for its gasket products and technologies across a number of key sectors, including the oil and gas,

power-generating and chemical production industries. According to Flexitallic, the move enables it to increase the level of service provided to customers in the region through enhanced production turnaround and extensive stockholding, which result in improved delivery times. Based in premises in Ticengo, the facility, with an area of 1400 m2 (around 15 000 ft2), will support the delivery of Flexitallic’s portfolio of industrial sealing products, including its ChangeTM gasket and sealing materials, such as Sigma® and Thermiculite®.
The company says that Italy and the Southern European region is an established industrial market where it has maintained a presence for many years. Increased demand for its sealing products and technology – together with its strategic growth programme to enhance its ability to serve customers with a fast and effective operation – has prompted it to establish this new facility. The establishment of the operation in Italy is part of Flexitallic’s global development programme, which has seen the group building geographic presences across strategically important regions throughout the world, including Belgium and Germany to serve northern and central Europe, and the Middle East. Earlier this year, it entered into an agreement with Italy’s Euroguarco SpA – a project management, manufacturing and service company that offers a range of sealing, piping, valves and insulation products for the oil and gas, petrochemical, process, railway and marine industries (Sealing Technology February 2019, page 3).
