Compact valves make space for savings Danfoss has designed a range of servo actuated solenoid valves with a remarkably compact solenoid system and a power consumption of just 4.5 W. EV220A valves are suitable for neutral media such as water, light oil and air for industrial OEMs working with compressors, pumps and other products with PLC control. Danfoss’ water hammer damping system is incorporated and pressures up to 16 bar can be handled. There are six valve sizes in the range from ‘/4 to 1 inch, with orifice sizes from 6 to 22 mm, all of which are available with rubber gaskets and in normally open and normally closed versions.The units can operate up to 100°C and have an enclosure

point. It is based on the company’s ND800 digital positioner, which calculates flow rates using pressure and valve capacity information. The idea behind the system is to combine a control valve, valve diagnostics and a flowmeter. Transforming a control valve to a NeIflow system involves adding pressure sensors upstream and downstream in the piping, or else adding flanges with pressure sensors around the valve, and installing a Nelflow unit to the control valve. The Nelflow unit uses the pressure differential, the valve’s position and the valve’s Cv value to compute the rate at which the media is flowing through the valve.
