Rank Group to acquire UCI International
N
ew Zealand-based Rank Group is acquiring UCI International Inc in a US$375 million deal. Rank Group will also assume debt of approximately US$605 million. UCI manufactures a broad range of filtration products, fuel and cooling systems products and vehicle electronics for the automotive, trucking, marine, mining, construction, agricultural and industrial markets. Earlier this year, UCI International filed for a planned US$200 million initial public offering but the company has now withdrawn from this. In the event of termination of the merger agreement under certain circumstances, Rank Group may be required to pay UCI International a termination fee of US$100 million. LSmidth has made a DKK170 million offer to acquire ESSA Australia Ltd, a specialist in sampling and sample preparation equipment for the minerals and mining industries. ESSA operates in a number of market segments including mineral sample preparation, laboratory equipment, industrial solids preparation, mineral sizing, metallurgical testing, run of mine sampling, replacement parts and maintenance, laboratory and sampling automation. John Crane builds Indufil business

ohn Crane is to directly handle sales and support of its Indufil equipment in the Americas from 1 December 2010. John Crane has recently opened a new Indufil facility in Deer Park, Texas, which will serve customers in the Americas. A dedicated Indufil customer support team will provide a wide range of services to users of Indufil equipment, including local inventory management and logistics handling, technical and commercial support.
