On September 15-16, 1994, the session entitled "Progress in Food Technology" was held at the Agricultural University in Lublin, Poland The session opened with three plenary lectures: "The 25th anniversary of the session organized by the committee of Food Technology & Chemistry (PAN)" given by Prof. A. Rutkowski, Poland; "Enzymes & Microbes" by Prof. A.D.B. Malcolm of the Institute of Food Research, England; and "Effect of Extrusion Cooking on the Nutrition & Sensory Properties of Food" by Prof. J. Pokorny, Czech Republic. Debates continued in the following five sessions: Progress in Biotechnology, Process Engineering, Biological Methods of Food Analysis, Progress in Technology of Animals Origin Food and Progress in Technology of Plant Origin Food. In each of the sections, the works were presented orally and by means of posters. The session ended with two plenary lectures: "Starch and the Products of its Processing as Components of some Synthetic Polymers" and " the Preferred Trends on Food Science - the present situation & perspectives". Altogether, the session attracted 320 persons, 253 papers were presented and the abstracts are printed in "Progress in Food Technology", published in Polish (Lublin, 1994, ISBN 83-85766-14-6).
