Foreword from the Scientific Committee With my two colleagues of the Scientific Program Committee, Dr. Etsuro Ogata and Dr. Gideon Rodan, we are very grateful to all invited speakers for having provided a written version of their outstanding conference presentations. Their articles will undoubtedly provide very useful up-to-date information covering many important preclinical and clinical aspects of the bone and mineral metabolism field. Also, we would like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the chairpersons who helped us to prepare the program of this conference and provided overviews of their sessions.
The proceedings of the Xllth International Conference on Calcium Regulating Hormones, held in Melbourne, Australia, February 14-19, 1995, are presented in this special issue of Bone. The conference consisted of eight plenary sessions and three poster sessions. Each plenary session comprised two invited lectures followed by eight presentations selected from more than 550 submitted abstracts. In these proceedings the reports of the two main speakers of each plenary session are preceded by an overview, presented by the chairpersons, outlining the main aspects of the submissions selected. The abstracts corresponding to the presentations referred to in the chairperson overviews have been published in a supplement of this Journal (Vol. 16, No. 1, January 1995), which contains the program of this conference.
