Publisher’s Note Free colour illustrations in the online version of articles We are delighted to be able to inform you about an important development that is of benefit to the authors and readers of Brain Research. Scientists in many disciplines need to be able to publish their work in colour, but the cost of printing figures in colour can be prohibitive and we realise that not all authors have sufficient funds to cover the charges. Brain Research now offers the facility for authors to publish their illustrations in colour in the online version of the journal (in ScienceDirect: www.sciencedirect.com) ]]] at no cost - regardless of whether the illustrations appear in colour or black-and-white in the print journal. Authors wishing to make use of this facility should ensure that: 1. the artwork is in an acceptable electronic format (TIFF, EPS or MS Office files) and at the correct resolution 2. RGB colour space is used 3. both colour and black-and-white artwork (file or hardcopy) is provided for those figures that are to appear in colour online and in black-and-white in print. (This is because technical complications can arise when converting colour figures to ‘grey scale’.) Information on preparing electronic artwork can be found at http: / / authors.elsevier.com / artwork. Elsevier
