Fujitsu Launches GaAs ASIC Evaluator Fujitsu Microelectronics has launched the MB53 GaAs ASIC Evaluator Kit, specially developed for Fujitsu's recently introduced GaAs ASIC gate array series. The kit allows the customer to test and qualify the GaAs technology in the earliest stages of a product development• he Evaluator Kit is available with a test chip which contains all the circuit structures, such as delay networks, functional gates, ring oscillators and i n p u t / o u t p u t buffers with CMOS, TTL, E C L a n d G a A s level, which are necessary for a full evaluation of the technology. Users are also able to test operating functions s u c h as s i m u l t a n e o u s switching output performance. The MB53 series of gate arrays is designed for application areas such as telecom systems, mainframe and supermini computers, and high end workstations. It has five master sizes from 3,000 to 30,000 gates with or without RAM. The devices offer a 80ps gate delay time, 1.1~tw gate power dissipation, and input signal frequencies of up to 1GHz. • Contact: John Pallin, Fujitsu, tel: [44] ( 0 ) 6 2 8 76100.

DTI MMIC Project The first project in the recently announced DTIsupported Compound semiconductor Advanced technology Programme (CSATP) is now well underway. The project, GaAs MMIC Design Software includes Barnard Microsysterns ( p r o j e c t l e a d e r ) , Philips M i c r o w a v e (fab and test) and the University of Kent (simulation). Work on the 3-year project (1370 000) began in October 91 and structures
for the first GaAs wafer run are being designed to help determine the accuracy of microwave element models. • DTI Contact: Stephen Parker on [44] (0)71 215 1343.
N e w Version of MMICAD Kanata, ON, Canada, based Optotek Ltd. has unveiled a new version of MMICAD, the award-winning linear design and analysis s o f t w a r e for the microwave CAE industry. This is the first substantial u p g r a d e to M M I C A D since its introduction in 1990. " M M I C A D Version 5.0 offers the same high standards of flexibility and p e r f o r m a n c e established by V e r s i o n 4.0. W e ' v e added new features that will help us significantly expand our market share, p a r t i c u l a r l y in the US, where customer acceptance has been extremely positive," said Optotek MMICAD Program Manager, Randy North. Masker Aid from CTEC The newly released software GDTREE and G D T O O L S from C T E C Ltd., of Luton, Beds, UK, have been packaged together as "Masker Aid". By graphically representing a design file as a tree structure G D T R E E helps
speed u n d e r s t a n d i n g of mask design files. Statistical information on parts or all of the design file is also available. G D T R E E includes a unique auto report generator for mask documentation. G D T O O L S has been designed to provide power and flexibility to the mask designer. The most important tool is the bi-direct i o n a l G D S I I to m a n readable ASCII converter. This allows the design file to be looked at and edited by a simple text editor. It
also provides an easy method for layout information to be transferred to custom in-house programs. In addition to the GDSII converter there are a number of other useful tools in GDTOOLS. Masker Aid is now available on both PC and SUN for only £250/$450 and comes with a 30-day money back guarantee. • Contact: Steve Barnard, CTEC Ltd., 2 cardiff Grove, Luton, Beds LU1 1QH UK. grade radium. nd we've been doing it for over 25 years. Today we're responding to changing technology by providing indium in the form and purity demanded By the most sophisticated compound semiconductor manufacturers. That includes researchers involved in the development of electro-optic integrated circuits and advanced semiconductor devices for the latest in computing and communications systems. They count on the unique properties of indium compounds to keep their products on the leading edge of technology. Equally important, they've come to depend on the experier[ce and knowledge of our technical staff to help keep them on top of their business the way we stay at the top of ours. Call us for free technical literature and consultation. Indium. Leadership is only the beginning.
