MARKET PROSPECTS Chemical and New Material Park (Jiaxing) in east China’s Jiaxing city, Zhejiang Province. Foster Wheeler will design and supply three 100 MWe (gross megawatt electric) CFB steam generators plus auxiliary equipment and provide site advisory services for the project. The CFB steam generators will be designed to burn coal while meeting all environmental requirements. Commercial operation of the new steam generators is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.

SNC-Lavalin awarded Saudi contract

NC-Lavalin and its local Saudi Arabian 50/50 joint venture partner, The Zuhair Fayez Partnership, are to undertake general engineering and project management services for Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company, Saudi Aramco. Under a five-year reimbursable contract, SNC-Lavalin and The Zuhair Fayez Partnership will perform Front-End Engineering & Design (FEED) and select detailed engineering, as well as project management services to support the execution of Saudi Aramco’s capital program. These projects include on and offshore oil and gas production and processing facilities, infrastructure projects, refining and petrochemical facilities.

BASF to build world’s largest single-train TDI plant in Europe
B
ASF has unveiled plans to build the world’s largest single-train TDI (toluene diisocyanate) plant in Europe. The fully integrated 300 000 metric tons per year TDI plant will be located at one of the company’s integrated Verbund sites in Antwerp, Belgium or Ludwigshafen, Germany and will start production in 2014. Engineering is already underway and the final site selection will be announced shortly. TDI is a key component used for polyurethane foams. 4

Technip and BASF sign umbrella agreement
T
echnip has awarded BASF an engineering partner umbrella service contract for chemical and petrochemical projects. Both companies are contemplating a long-term partnership which will give BASF access to Technip’s engineering resources for its capital investments particularly in Europe but also in other regions. The scope of work ranges from studies and basic and detail engineering up to project implementation services.
Statoil gives Brazil frame agreement to Technip
A
fter a competitive tender process, Statoil Brasil Óleo & Gàs Ltda has awarded Technip a frame agreement for engineering studies. The 3-year contract covers feasibility, concept and front-end engineering design studies for Statoil’s existing offshore production fields and future developments in Brazil. All work will be performed by Technip’s operating centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with support from the group’s European centres.
FW to upgrade Thai refinery
A
subsidiary of Foster Wheeler AG’s Global Engineering and Construction Group will undertake basic design engineering package and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services for the Emission Improvement and PSA-3 project at Thai Oil Public Co Ltd’s refinery in Sriracha, Thailand. The project will give the refinery greater flexibility in the crudes it can process and enable it to process higher sulfur crudes, to upgrade fuel oil to more valuable end products and to meet new sulfur oxides (SOx) emissions regulations coming into force in Thailand.
The project is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2013. Meanwhile Foster Wheeler will also provide front-end engineering design (FEED) for the residue fluidized catalytic cracking unit (RFCCU) revamp turnaround and inspection project at Star Petroleum Refining Co Ltd’s refinery at Map Ta Phut in Thailand.

Jacobs secures Nestle Mexico contract
J
acobs Engineering Group Inc has signed a 12-month master services agreement with Nestle Servicios Industriales to provide professional services for Nestle’s production facilities in Mexico. Jacobs’ Mexico City operations is providing engineering, construction supervision and/or management, as well as project management services for Nestle projects in its dairy, coffee and food processing facilities located in Mexico. Additionally, Jacobs is currently providing engineering services in Nestle’s dairy and coffee locations.

Fluor SKM JV awarded mine expansion contract in Western Australia
T
he Fluor SKM Joint Venture (FAST JV) has received new awards from BHP Billiton to execute the mining company’s Iron Ore Expansion Program in Western Australia. These latest awards will focus mainly on the expansion of the Jimblebar mine. The FAST JV is a joint venture between Fluor Australia Pty Ltd. and Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM). Fluor and SKM have provided engineering, procurement, construction management, and commissioning services to BHP Billiton Iron Ore since 2001. Work is already underway on the Jimblebar mine.
