Environmental Spanish contract for KSB KSB Group is to supply numerous water extraction and transfer pumps for the water supply system of the city of Santander on the North Spanish coast. The order is for twenty pumps of different type series. The water supply is taken from Ebro reservoir, a UNESCObacked biosphere reserve, has a unique ecological system consisting of a great variety of plant and animal species, KSB says. In order not to disturb the ecological balance of the reservoir, operators have to replenish the water taken out of the reservoir within the following three years, and twelve additional highperformance pumps, installed in a total of four pumping stations,

New president for ABS Group

take care of this. They only start operating when the rivers feeding the reservoir hold so much water that there is no risk of the ecological balance being disturbed.

Peter Aru has been appointed the new president and CEO of ABS Group. He will lead the company from November 1st until further notice, alongside with his duties as president and CEO for the Cardo group, which is the mother company of ABS.

Four tubular casing pumps, each with a capacity of 3000 m3 of water per hour, extract the water from the reservoir and transfer it to a storage tank situated at an altitude of 38 m. From there, four doubleentry volute casing pumps type RDLO, each with a capacity of 2,940 m3 per hour, pump the water across the Cantabrian Mountains. After overcoming the geodetic altitude, the water, through force of gravity, continues its journey to Santander through a network of pipes.

This means that the former president and CEO, Fredrik Groth, will leave his duties to fill the position of vice president business development at Cardo. “We will now intensify the process of creating long-term stability and conditions for growth for ABS,” says Aru. “Our focus and overall strategic direction will remain the same - we will continue to develop and provide solutions within wastewater technology, which fit our customers’ needs and purposes.”
