Compact booster sets announced A range of packaged two pump booster sets, called HMVB, has been launched. Designed to be as compact as possible, Armstrong Bumps’ fully-automated booster sets have a footprint of only 1.2 1 ma and a total volume of 0.19 ma, suiting them for installation in confined plant room spaces and for retrofit pro, lects. The range consists of nine motiels, developed to provide a reliable, automated supply of pressurised water for potable senices, hot and cold water systems, and transfer applications. Each packaged pump set incorporates stainless steel horizorrtal multistage pumps, WRc apl)roved valves, and a specially de.\igned int, egral pressure switch operated control unit. HMVB range booster sets can deal with flows up to 3.6 l/s at he;tds up to 48 m. Contact: Armstrong Pumps Limited, Peartree Road, Stanway, Colchester, Essex CO3 5JX, UK. Gear pump sealing technology Thf, new T series enviro pump combines mechanical seal technology with Roper Pumps’ rotary gear pump design to solve the problem of leakage from pump shaft packing. One of the options is a single mechanical seal with two rings of packing as an emergency
backup, allowing pumping to continue in the event of leakage from the main seal. A two piece backplate design gives quick access to the seal. Designed with environmental cinsiderationsconsiderations in mind the makers claim the pump offers extended service life and reduced pump wear. Roper’s gear pump uses only two moving pump elements. An optional quick opening relief valve prevents pressure fluctuations in the system and protects the pump. The hydraulic drive option enhances safety and reduces overall operating costs. The Roper T series is available in capacities up to 160 gpm and pressures to 125 psi. The company says the existing 3600/3700 and 4600/4700 ranges can be converted to the new T series design.
erations. The diaphragm vacuum priming system operates in conjunction with a positive sealing float, facilitating dry prime operation. The models include Cornell’s Cycloseal shaft sealing system. A dished backplate works with the impeller backvanes to reduce pressure and wear around the seal area of the pump and increase seal life without the need for venting or water flush. The range is available in sizes from 100 mm to 300 mm with flows up to 1000 m”/hr and

Solids handling pump with dry self-priming A new dry priming solid handling pump which combines high pressure and flow rates with the efficiency and energy consumption of a dry prime unit, has been produced by Cornell Bump CO. The pump does not require tilling before use, making it suitable for sewage bypass op-
