T is with regret that we announce the sudden death on December 18, 1938 of George WiIkins Swift of Seattle, nationaIIy known surgeon and member of the EditoriaI Board of The American JournaI of Surgery. Dr. Swift since his graduation from Northwestern University MedicaI SchooI in Igo7 has risen far in the neurosurgical field. He was a feIIow and member of the board of governors of the American CoIIege of Surgeons, a past president of the Panthe Pacific Pacific SurgicaI Association,

Northwest Medical Association and the PubIic HeaIth League of Washington. His many contributions to this and other journaIs have estabIished his reputation as an authority on neurosurgery. OnIy two weeks before his death, his Iast articIe was published in the December number of The American JournaI of Surgery. To his reIatives we, in the name of The American JournaI of Surgery, offer our deepest expression of sympathy. T. S. W.
