WORLD PUMPS
February 2016
Global comfort technology Internal gear offering meets viscous challenges exhibition 2016 EnviroGear Pumps, part of PSG, a Dover company, announces the addition of G Series sealed internal gear pumps to its product line. The G Series pumps utilize only two moving parts, which the company says operate equally well in both directions while providing a positive, non-pulsating flow. Its design provides multiple inlet and outlet positioning, a single end-clearance adjustment and easy drive-end access for ease of maintenance and adjustability. The G Series pumps are available in both cast iron and stainless steel, which EnviroGear claim are extremely reliable, durable and cost effective for challenging industrial applications involving both thin and highly viscous liquids up to 431,000 cSt.
Interchangeable with 95% of the internal gear pumps on the market, EnviroGear says the G Series pumps allow easy equipment upgrades with no piping changes, no driver changes, no coupling changes, no flow rate changes and no baseplate changes. EnviroGear will continue to offer its E Series line of seal-less internal gear pumps. www.envirogearpump.com

The Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2016 will cover residential and industrial installations, air-conditioning, heating, cooling, water, and renewable energies, and is scheduled for 15 – 18 March at Fiera Milano, Italy. The idea behind MCE 2016 is the integration between systems and solutions, the electric and thermal world, and building envelopes and installation technology – in order to implement intelligent management systems, reduce energy use, protect the environment and preserve natural resources. Research on energy efficiency technologies conducted by the Energy & Strategy Group of Politecnico di Milano for MCE shows that solutions focused on providing maximum energy effi-
ciency, namely heat pumps, building automation systems and condensing boilers, will rise by about €12.8 billion; and renewable energy solutions such as mini wind turbines, PV, solar thermal and micro cogeneration systems, as well as biomass boilers, will reach €4 billion. Meanwhile, integrated solutions like solar PV + heat pump, or solar PV + heat pump + solar storage battery systems etc., are estimated to reach €0.87 billion. All forecasts go forward three years around the country. Success in tackling this outstanding challenge will require a synergy between intelligence, expertise and research. www.mcexpocomfort.it
Cantilevered design has run-dry capability
High accuracy over long periods of operation
Mechanically minded professionals know that centrifugal pumps will seize if allowed to run dry. Vanton Pump & Equipment Corp says plant managers who must contend with the possibility of pumps running dry, can now avoid seizing problems by using the company’s Sump-Gard SGK cantilevered, bearingless vertical pump. This pump features a large diameter, plastic sleeved, stainless steel shaft that eliminates the need for immersing bearings or bushings, which enables it to run-dry for indefinite periods of time.
Fuji Techno Industries' Super Metering Pumps (SMPs) have a pumping accuracy of ±0.1% or less and do not create pulsations in the liquid flow.
The rugged SGK has a chemical resistant epoxy coated, cast iron motor bracket that accommodates NEMA, IEC and standard European motors. It is available in lengths to 4 ft (1.21 m) and flows to 1,000 gpm (227 m3/hr). Engineered to operate in corrosive, abrasive, hazardous and ultrapure fluid www.worldpumps.com
applications, the SGK is available in PVC, CPVC, PP and PVDF. Vanton Pump & Equipment Corp. manufactures chemically inert, thermoplastic pumps and systems that solve fluid containment, dosing and transfer problems. www.vanton.com

According to Andrew Fallows, managing director of Motor Technology, the UK-based European agent for Japanese company Fuji Techno, no other pump in the world is able to match the accuracy and performance of the SMP. Metering pumps typically offer accuracy in the region of ±1%. The SMPs consist of a pump head, an electric motor and a triple plunger system driven by a specially designed cam that controls the motion cycle of the plungers. The timing of each plunger's suction and discharge cycle is precisely controlled by the cam, so that the total liquid discharged from the pump is highly accurate and constant with

no pulsations in the flow. Specially designed suction and discharge valves result in smooth movement of the check balls minimizing wear to the valve seats, ensuring high accuracy is maintained over long periods of operation. Typical applications for the SMPs include pharmaceutical and chemical processing, food processing and water treatment. www.metering-pump.com
