Coriolis flowmeter breaks industry’s flow-rate barrier US firm Fluid Components International (FCI) has developed a Coriolis mass flowmeter which, it claims, delivers more than twice the industry standard flow rate than previously available, setting a new benchmark compared with other Coriolis devices in its class. Using a ‘U-tube’ flow sensor, and designed for line sizes of 6-305 mm (0.25 inches to 12 inches, or DN 8 to DN 300), the Model CMU measures flow rates of 60-220 000 kg/hr (2.2 to 80 800 lb/hr). It provides true mass-flow measurement with superior accuracy, while at the same time measuring fluid temperature, density and volumetric flow – making it a truly multivariable process measurement tool that reduces the need for other sensors, says the company. The unit’s U-tube flow sensor features a lightweight tube, minimal welding and vibration dampening technology. This
design achieves higher long-term mechanical reliability and lower installation costs, compared with the typical, heavy die-cast elements found in ordinary Coriolis devices. It also eliminates the bulky and costly extra structural supports that are often required to mount and secure other metering devices. The CMU has an accuracy range of 0.1% to 0.15% in liquids, depending on the line size, and 0.5% in gases (+/- reading). With its high accuracy, excellent repeatability and multivariable parameter measurement capabilities, the CMU meets stringent industry requirements for applications in custody transfer, precision product line batching and test-stand performance measurement. It is ideal for transferring difficult liquids, such as corrosives and pollutants. The ICM model is the ISO version of the 3296 EZMAG. Members of the 3298 series are lined, magnetic-drive pumps that are designed to handle moderate to severe corrosives economically. They feature a thick Tefzel lining and are available in framemounted, close-coupled, in-line and self-priming models.
