Granulomatous Mastitis e More data are needed

Dear Editor in Chief, I read with great interest the article by Aghajanzadeh et al. on their experience in managing 206 cases of Granulomatous Mastitis (GM) in the North of Iran [1]. It is the largest series to date [2] and has provided me great insight into managing similar cases. The authors have advocated oral corticosteroid as the first line therapy for GM [1] and I concurred. However, in my clinical experience, many large GM breast lumps, typically those that are more than 7 cm, do not resolve with single course of oral prednisolone (8 weeks tapering course), and need further intervention. On the other hand, although the underlying lump does not resolve, ulcerated GM lesions response well with oral prednisolone with complete re-epithelialization in less than 4 weeks. It is of my great interest to know more and will be great if the authors can provide the bivariable analysis of the patients' characteristics and treatment outcomes, and multivariable analysis to look for the risk factors associated with treatment failure. These extended data will help clinicians to better understand the treatment efficacy and improve the patient's outcome. I sincerely look forward for the authors' reply.
