Green Wafers from Laser Diode New Jersey based Laser Diode Inc., has released new of a new range of "Epi Ready" semiconducting GaAs and Ge wafers available by its "Green Environmentally Friendly" and "Waxless Polishing" process. This, says Laser Diode, "allows for complete customer confidence for direct loading from cassette to your growth chamber or reactor". The "CFC Free Process" meets all domestic and foreign requirements to rid the process of compromising environmental chemicals and solvents," the company says. "Wafers can be l~abricated in rectangular form
or in diameters up to 3-inch for GaAs and 100 mm for Ge via our LEC, H G F or CZ growth techniques. In addition "ultra-thin" wafers can be fabricated down to 0.006-inch thickness".

joined French InP substrate company Crismatech InPact, Dominique had this to say about his new appointment: "A few years ago InP was for me just a shiny surface with some interesting semiconducting properties. The excellent Ecole Nationale Sup6rieure de Physique de Grenoble outperformed in teaching me about the life of electrons and holes in semiconductor devices. But they forgot to tell me that InP was also a family. A family, moreover, that I would have the chance to join in the beginning of this year. I am now replacing Tony Overs in the sales department of Crismatech InPact. Before entering the chemistry business, Tony took the time to tell me something of his vast InP experiences. I was able to learn more o f the b a c k g r o u n d to this intriguing business at the I P R M conference in Santa Barbara! "This conference helped me to discover an active community fighting to prove that InP is not a material like any of the others. Crismatech InPact has known it for a long time and has dedicated its activity to the growth of InP single crystals and wafering. The company has provided its customers with high quality crystals and has always maintained a close relationship with the epitaxial teams to come up with solutions that meet their needs. "I am very pleased to be part of the InP family and I look forward to knowing you all."
Photonics East On October 3l to November 4, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, will be the "Photonics Sensors & Controls for Commercial Applications" conference and exhibition. The Photonic Devices & Materials section will include a session on "IIVI B l u e / G r e e n L a s e r D i o d e s " , chaired by RL Gunshor (Purdue) and AV Nurmikko (Brown). It will also include sessions on "Optically Activated Switching"; "SIC Materials for Optics"; "Precision Structures" and one on "Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems".
