Hydraulic Institute launches metering section

A core group of US metering pump manufacturers has established a metering pump section within the Hydraulic Institute. The section will develop new standards, statistics, educational programmes and provide networking opportunities for this sector of the industry.

Grundfos acquires German p u m p factory
After a short period of negotiations, the Grundfos Group has reached an agreement for the takeover of Deutsche Vortex in Baden Wurttemberg, Germany. Vortex was founded in 1965 and for many years specialised in the production of small pumps for hot water circulation in homes and apartment buildings The pumps are mainly sold in Germany where Vortex is k n o w n for its high quality and functional product design. Vortex Pumps are also sold to the lumbing sector in neighbouring countries such as Denmark, Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic. In 1998, company turnover was approximately DEM 20 million with a number of employees of 42 people. Grundfos says it intends to continue to operate Deutsche Vortex as an independent company, with no change in its profile or in the use of the Vortex brand name.
