Grundfos chairman celebrates 50 years in pumps Grundfos Group chairman Niels Due Jensen is celebrating his 50th anniversary with the Danish pump company. Due Jensen, who was two years old when his father Poul Due Jensen established Grundfos in the basement of their home in Bjerringbro,

Denmark, started an apprenticeship as an engine fitter in 1960, and later qualified as a mechanical engineer at Arhus Teknikum. He got his first management role at Grundfos in 1974 and took charge of the company in 1977. www.grundfos.com

Hamworthy wins breakthrough order in China Hamworthy has won a contract worth more than £20 million from the Chinese shipyard Nantong Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co Ltd, for cargo handling systems, including deepwell cargo pumps, on six Liquid Ethylene Gas (LEG) carriers. Hamworthy will supply engineering, reliquefaction plant and deep well cargo pumps.

Joe Oatley, chief executive of Hamworthy, said: “This is a breakthrough contract for Hamworthy in the small gas carrier market in China and gives the group a strategically important reference in this growing market.” www.hamworthy.com

Patterson-UTI Energy buys pressure pumping assets Patterson-UTI Energy Inc subsidiaries Universal Pressure Pumping Inc and Universal Wireline Inc have completed the acquisition of pressure pumping and wireline assets from Key Energy Services Inc for approximately US$238 million in cash.

Patterson-UTI’s pressure pumping subsidiaries now have equipment with approximately 431 000 horsepower, including 340 000 fracturing horsepower and 91 000 horsepower used in cementing, acidizing and nitrogen stimulation. http://patenergy.com

GE Hitachi in talks with US suppliers GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Michigan companies Energy Steel & Supply Co, Curtiss-Wright Flow Control and ClydeUnion Pumps to begin discussions about supplying components for new nuclear power plant projects in the United States and around the world.
