ordered new FT-IR equipment, which will enable researchers to take the fingerprint of any material to learn its molecular composition. This will help Camfil to better understand what has been captured in used air filters, and to verify that the quality of raw material from suppliers is consistent. In Ipho, Malaysia, Camfil has expanded molecular laboratory capacity to better serve its growing AMC (airborne molecular contamination) business. The facility now has GC-MS (Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometer) equipment, enabling Camfil to analyse molecular contamination problems for its AMC customers. Camfil’s SML laboratory in France has also been renovated, with new equipment including an oven for testing high temperature air filters commonly used in hospital and medical applications where instruments are sterilized before use. New equipment for comfort filter testing will also be installed in the lab. Camfil, which operates six global research sites around the world, says that the upgrades will boost its ability to provide local technical support, ensure long-term product quality, and expand the company’s research and development efforts.
