H2O Innovation awarded contracts worth C$6.5 million

anada’s H2O Innovation Inc recently announced that it has been awarded new contracts totalling C$6.5 million. These new contracts will see the company supplying custom-built water-treatment systems to industrial and municipal end-users in the USA and Canada. They were awarded before the end of its first quarter of fiscal 2013, and bring the firm’s order backlog for watertreatment systems to C$20.4 million as of 30 September 2012. For the first contract, H2O Innovation will design, assemble, deliver and commission a drinking-water production system for the city of Delaware, Ohio. With a finished water capacity of 26 876 m3 (7.1 million gallons) per day it will provide integrated ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) technologies for the treatment of surface water, and a low-pressure reverse osmosis unit for the treatment of ground water. ‘We are enjoying a growing demand for ultrafiltration systems in the Canadian and US markets. The City of Delaware project has a special significance for us as it will be a great demonstration platform in the Midwest US – close to the fast-growing surface-water treatment market in the eastern US,’ commented Harbans Kohli, Vice President, Systems Sales, H2O Innovation. ‘Combining three types of membrane technologies in a single system demonstrates our ability to provide multiple technologies to meet high environmental standards and customer needs. The awarding of this contract clearly demonstrates our know-how in providing integrated systems and technologies.’ Two other US and Canadian municipalities have also awarded contracts to the firm. These involve the design, assembly, delivery and installation of wastewater treatment packaged plants. The systems will use H2O Innovation’s patented BioWheel technology to treat wastewater in the city of Snow Lake, Manitoba, Canada, and the city of Grover in Colorado, USA. Another contract will see the company build and deliver a low-pressure reverse osmosis system to an industrial end-user in Idaho, USA, which will be used for the reclamation of wastewater. Under the last contract announced, H2O Innovation will manufacture and deliver a drinking-water production system to a customer in Canada that is operating in the oil and gas

oneywell International Inc has announced that its business UOP Llc has purchased a 70% stake in Thomas Russell Co, a privately-owned provider of technology and equipment for processing and treating natural gas. Honeywell says this acquisition means that UOP can offer a broad range of key technologies and products that enable shale and conventional natural gas producers to remove contaminants from natural gas and recover high-value natural gas liquids used for petrochemicals and fuel. Under the terms of the agreement, Honeywell’s UOP will acquire a 70% stake in Thomas Russell for $525 million in cash. The firm has the right to acquire the remaining 30% stake and Thomas Russell has the right to sell this remaining stake in the company to UOP at a price based on operating income performance. ‘Thomas Russell Co is a terrific complement to our current business and is particularly well positioned to serve the growing market for processing shale gas, as well as gas from oil fields,’ commented Andreas Kramvis, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies. ‘With this acquisition, UOP will provide a comprehensive range of key technologies to natural-gas producers globally, as well as a broad range of technologies to convert naturalgas feedstocks into high-value petrochemicals.’ Tom Russell, CEO, Thomas Russell Co and the firm’s founder, added: ‘Thomas Russell will be joining a recognised leader in technology for refining, petrochemicals and gas processing, enabling the business to continue to grow to meet customer needs globally. Our products and technology complement those of UOP’s Gas Processing and Hydrogen business, and we share the same commitment to the natural gas market.’ Contacts: UOP Llc, 25 E. With six skids containing 162 membrane modules, this wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) will be the largest MBR plant of its kind in Malaysia, says the firm. Last year, Pentair X-Flow was awarded the contract to supply the membrane modules and aerators. Now, with this latest agreement, it will supply six staggered skids complete with headers, instruments, valves and junction box, and will also supervise the installation of these systems. The WWTP is scheduled to start operating at the end of 2012.
