2O Innovation Inc has secured C$3.1 million in new contracts in the US and Canada. The first contract will see H2O Innovation design, assemble, deliver and commission a water reuse expansion plant for the Leo J Vander Lans Water Treatment Facility in California. The system, based on reverse osmosis technology, will offer a finished water capacity of 3.7 MGD (14 000 m3/d). In a first for H2O Innovation, the company will lease a water purification unit to a village municipality in Northern Quebec. Based on a conventional nanofiltration technology, the mobile container will treat groundwater to produce drinking water. H2O Innovation has signed a one-year leasing agreement, renewable upon request. Another contract will see H2O Innovation manufacture and deliver a drinking water production unit for a mining camp in Northern Quebec. The insulated container will integrate nanofiltration technology to treat surface water. H2O Innovation will also be responsible for start-up and operation assistance services for a drinking water production unit and a wastewater treatment plant in Northern Alberta. The company delivered these two turnkey solutions last summer to an oil & gas customer for a 1000-worker camp.
Acciona undertakes its first water contract in Morocco

drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) for Morocco’s Office National Electricity & Eau Potable. The new DWTP will be located in the Oum Azza municipality, 30km from Morocco’s capital Rabat. Construction is expected to take 27 months to complete. The Oum Azza plant is Acciona Agua’s first contract in Morocco, and the second major contract on the African continent. The Spanish company was responsible for building a desalination plant in Fouka in Algiers which became fully operational earlier this year and produces 120 000m3 of freshwater per day.

The GE water treatment plant will supply the refinery with 3.5 million gallons of filtered water per day. The mobile water treatment plant will be located within PETROTRIN’s refinery at Pointe-a-Pierre, Trinidad and Tobago. The new mobile water treatment plant will provide RO process water to meet the higher demand for filtered water that will be used for industrial processes inside the refinery. The new facility will include five of GE’s M-PAK mobile UF units, four 600-gallonsper-minute MobileRO units, three circular tanks, RO feed pumps, transfer pumps, waste pumps, a RO cleaning skid, an air compressor for instruments and an office trailer with storage and laboratory. GE will operate and maintain the facility for two years. GE’s water business currently provides chemicals and technical monitoring services at the refinery for key unit operations, such as the crude units and boilers.

he European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a E50 million loan to Spain’s Cantabria region to help finance its investment in water and sanitation facilities. The project is designed to increase the reliability and efficiency of the water supply in coastal areas and improve wastewater management through the construction of four treatment plants and a number of sewerage infrastructure schemes, helping the region to comply with the wastewater quality aspects of the EU urban wastewater treatment directive. The sanitation investments are partly included in the Operational Programme for the Environment and will be co-financed by ERDF funds. The project is scheduled for completion in 2016.
