Hackers Break into German Bank The German credit card subsidiary of Barclays Bank has admitted that hackers have penetrated its computers. According to a report in the UK newspaper The Guardian, Barclays launched the service in March last year and has been running an advertising campaign to attract customers in the 6.2 million strong German credit/charge card market. It has done so by offering two cards, Visa and Mastercharge, for the price of one, and encouraging customers to sign up via a free phone number linked to a voice mailbox. The hackers are alleged to have accessed this free phone number to obtain clients' card numbers and credit ratings.
