[email protected] CLARIFICATION: CAEP AND THE ROYAL COLLEGE MEETINGS In May of 1996, the CAEP board of directors passed a motion to add an academic stream to the CAEP
annual scientific assembly, and to take steps to withdraw from the Royal College meetings. In September of 1996, in response to lobbying on the part of several CAEP members, the board reconsidered its stance and voted to remain involved with the Royal College meetings. Because of the time lag inherent in publication, the board’s May motion was reported in the November/December issue of JEM. Some of the CAEP members involved in lobbying the board, failing to understand the publication time lag, responded angrily to this report. The status of this controversial issue, as of January 25, 1997, is as follows: CAEP will add an academic stream to our annual scientific assembly. CAEP will remain involved with and support the Royal College Meetings.
