CJwik
Qwik manual water and gas pumps are backup devices for water, gas and most other fluids, including petrochemicals like gas, diesel fuels and pesticides. In late 1999, they were described as Y2K compliant, but hopefully we shouldn’t have to worry about that now. Nevertheless, Pump Qwik’s emphasis on portability suggests that should emergency conditions ever arise, it might just be worth packing one in your bag. www.manualpumps. corn/index.htm
q iscflo We first touched on Discflo’s online presence 12 months ago, but it’s a good chance to illustrate what a year’s worth of enhancements can bring. The presentation has been sharpened up within the established theme, the contents are now available in four
languages, and there’s even a forum for distributors’ talk. Discflo’s commitment, however, to a clear understanding of the concepts behind its unusual pump, remains unchanged. www.discflo.com

Fluidics
Atlantic Fluidics has been supplying liquid ring vacuum pumps for remediation applications since 1979. It developed the FluidVac@ system in 1988 to overcome the problems of engineering and assembling a liquid ring pumping system on site. Its homepage is a nice example of a company determined to cut straight to the heart of the matter, without sacrificing the aesthetics entirely. Aside from the FluidVac equipment, space is also devoted to its central vacuum modules, two stage pumps and environmental systems. www.atlanticfluidics. corn

Situated in White Bear, Minnesota, the Schwing plant incorporates more than 375 000 square feet devoted to the manufacturing of concrete pumping equipment. Its website is a clever yet curious beast. While everything’s slickly presented, everything also happens within a three-inch box. It’s none the worse for all that. Some of the tiny menu options appear to ask for 100% pin-point clicking accuracy, but never fear - they’re simply previews of much larger versions that you could hit with a wobbly stick. The Projects section makes for an interesting read, confirming that whether you’re building a correctional facility or a luxury hotel, the concrete pump equipment remains the same. www.schwing.com

There’s a very informative article from the vice president here, on screw centrifugal impeller technology and its advantages in sludge pumping. Use of these pumps for sludge services is growing, because the design offers unique benefits that are well suited to certain municipal and industrial sludge pumping applications. Watch out also for the easy-to-miss Pump Assist facility. It’s a timesaving tool designed to assist in the pump selection process. Input application details and operating conditions, and Pump Assist will produce a short-list of suitable pumps. Overall this is a moderately extensive, nicely presented effort. The site splits regionally into USA, Canada and International subsections, but to be honest, for the imperceptible differences between them, it’s difficult to tell why. www. haywardgordoruom

Hydraulic
Quality Hydraulic Power is one of the leading manufacturers in hydro-pneumatic bladder, piston and diaphragm accumulators, and claims to be active in fluid power applications within all sectors of industry. Of principle note here, are a set of automatic accumulator and pulsation dampener sizing facilities. They simply require details of pressure limits, liquid volumes, temperatures, and pump speeds, to instantaneously recommend the appropriate device. Few of us can claim over-familiarity with this technology, so such useful features go a long way to demystifying the selection process. You can’t purchase online yet, so the listing of worldwide distribution partners may come in handy too. www.qhp.co.uk
Trico Manufacturing “Welcome to the future of online business! ” says Trico, and they’ve built such an impressive website here, it looks like they mean it. The intention, apparently, is to help you with convenient cross-referencing to thousands of lubrication manufacturers’ products. Type in a manufacturer’s part number and instantly receive Trico’s recommended product. Ordering thereafter is straightforward, but while you’re thinking about it, peruse at least the Technical Information sheet. It boasts a terrific series of 15 concise articles on subjects like properly sizing an expansion chamber, the benefits of an air dryer in oil lubrication systems, and preventing water contamination in oil lubrication systems. “Register Now! ” we’re finally encouraged, although perhaps it would have been nice to know what for. www.tricomfg.com
