Hand-held lightmeter In view of the demand for a simple, hand-held lightmeter, Megatron have introduced a new version of the Photometer Model $511 T/us is a three-range instrument for measuring interior illumination from 50 to 5000 Lux. Many simple pocket photometers suffer some loss of accuracy when checking the illumination from sources hawng a low angle of incidence, such as a window at the far end of a room, the problem Is overcome in this instrument by the integrating dome which accepts hght over a very wide angle. It is selfcontained and needs no batteries. The

accuracy comphes with the relevant British Standard BS 667'1968. The Megatron Type B photocell is fitted with a correction filter so that it can be used to measure different light sources directly. The price complete with carrying case is £ I 0 0 , plus £3 postage and VAT m the UK For information contact Chris Walker at Megatron Ltd, 165 Marlborough Road, London N 19 4NE ( 0 1 - 2 7 2 3739)

Hearing protection to fit head protection The Btlsom Compact hearing protector is said to be so shin and lightweight that it will fit snugly and comfortably under face shields, eye protectors, visors or welding hoods -including those fitted to a helmet. Weighing only 125 g, Compact features cups with a silver metallic front in the shape of a wedge - narrow at the front so that visors will slip over them easily and deep at the rear to provide the volume necessary for optimum attenuation The cups are filled with micro-fibre mineral wool - a material with exceptional sound absorbing properties which also prevents the formation of standing sound waves. The wool is held in place by foam closing pads. The foam filled cushions fit closely and comfortably around the ears to form an effective noise seal. The cups are attached to the headband by sliding rubber-covered pivots, allowing them to be angled and

positioned for a perfect tit The headband, moulded m almost unbreakable acetal, is designed exclusively for use m the neckband position.
