CORRESPONDENCE To the Editor

HEPATOMEGALY IN MALARIA SIR,--Further to Dr. WADDY'S letter in the November issue of the Transactions, we also should like to refer to the discussion on hepatomegaly in the paper by MCGREGOR and SMITH (1952) in which they stated that the association of hepatomegaly with malaria has not been reported from other hyperendemic malaria regions of Africa. We would refer you to a paper published by us in the Transactions (1950) in which the following statement was made " We conclude that malaria and malnutrition were the two main factors in the causation of hepatic enlargement in this village." Medical Research Institute, Accra. 12th January, 1953.

We are, etc., M . J . COLBOURNE G . M . EDINGTON M. H. HUGHES.
