28 August—9 September 1978 Electrons in Disordered Metals and at Metallic Surfaces, Gent, Belgium. A NATO Advanced Study Institute on “Electrons in Disordered metals and at Metallic Surfaces” will be held at the State University of Gent, Belgium. (B.L. Gyorffy and P. Phariseau, directors) Information and application forms available from: Prof. Dr. P. Phariseau Rijksuniversiteit Gent, Krijgslaan 271, gebouw S9, B-9000 Gent, Belgium. 30 August—I September 1978

17—21 April 1978 Eighth Annual International Symposium on Electronic Structure ofMetals and Alloys, Dresden, GDR. The Eighth International Symposium on Electronic Structure of Metals and Alloys wifi be held at Gaullig, near Dresden, GDR from April 17—28, 1978. The Ninth and Tenth Symposiums are also planned for April 23—27, 1979 and April 14—18, 1980 respectively, at the same venue. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss current research on theoretical aspects of the electronic structure of metals and alloys. The following topics will outline the scope of the meetings: Calculations of the electronic spectrum, soft X-ray spectra, optical and related properties, cluster calculations. Theory of phonon spectra, binding energies and related properties. Effect of impurities and surfaces on the properties of metals. The GaulMg Symposia take place in a beautiful castle. Attendance is limited to 50 participants. Proceedings of the conferences wifi be published. We request that you inform us by October 1, 1977 (1978/1979) if you are interested in attending one of these symposia and whether you can offer a paper on one of the subjects under discussion. Further information and a fmal confirmation ‘~ your attendance will then be mailed to you. Information Prof. Dr. habil. P.
