High-temperature seal assembly Applicant: Metallic Hi Temperature Seal Systems Llc, USA The seal assembly that forms the subject of this patent includes a semi-tubular sealing element, defining a longitudinal axis, and a retainer configured to retain this sealing element. The sealing element has a longitudinal centre portion, and first and second longitudinal side portions, an array of resilient arcuate fingers extending from the first longitudinal side portion and curving partially around the longitudinal axis, and a depressor portion, which extends from the second longitudinal side portion and has a free edge diametrically opposed to the centre portion. The retainer defines a channel, with an entrance opening. The channel is configured to receive the sealing element in a position in which the depressor portion extends outside of the entrance opening in position to bear a load – the channel being defined by a pair of opposed side walls configured to capture the sealing element. Ceramic orifice plate with integrated gasket Applicant: Fujikin Inc, Japan The purpose of this invention is to improve the corrosion resistance of an orifice plate with integrated gasket used in pipelines, pressure-type flow-restricting devices, or the like. It also aims to improve seal quality, stabilise seal performance, reduce manufacturing costs of orifice plates with integrated gaskets, and allow easy disassembly, assembly

The purpose of this invention is to improve the corrosion resistance of an orifice plate with integrated gasket used in pipelines, and pressure-type flow-restricting devices. Patent WO/2014/119265 contains further details.

and replacement of an orifice plate with an integrated gasket. According to the associated patent, a first orifice base (2) consists of a fitting projection (2b) and is provided with a passage (2a) that passes through the centre, and a second orifice base (3) includes a fitting recess (3b) and is provided with a passage (3a) that passes through the centre of the passage (2a) of the first orifice base (2). These are assembled and a ceramic orifice plate (4) is inserted between the ends of both orifice bases (2 & 3) so as to be airtight, and a gasket sealing face (2c & 3c) is at the exterior ends of both orifice bases (2 & 3). Cable connector Applicant: CMP Products Ltd, UK Details are disclosed of a connector, or gland, for sealing around a cable or other elongate element. The gland includes a seal

that goes over the cable and presses against it to form a seal. There is also a gripping portion, which has fingers that move radially inwards towards the cable so as to apply a radially inwards force on the seal. There are also mutually threaded body portions that engage each other and contain the other components, with one body portion having an inclined surface with which the fingers of the gripping portion engage. As the body portions move towards each other, the fingers move down the inclined surface and press against the seal. An insert is added if the gland is to be used on a narrow cable. The insert sits against the inclined surface. It also has its own inclined surface that is preferably oriented at a steeper angle and leads to a smaller aperture than the one on the body portion. Brush seal device Applicant: Eagle Industry Co Ltd, Japan A brush seal device has been developed which, claims this patent, can appropriately track displacement in the radial direction of a rotating shaft, prevents leakage of a sealed fluid and wear to a brush seal and the like, and also prevents leakage of the sealed fluid from the outer peripheral side. The device described has: an inner peripheral brush seal that has a free end and a brush at the inner peripheral side; and an outer peripheral brush seal on the outer peripheral side of the inner peripheral brush seal that similarly has a free end and a brush at the inner peripheral side. The free end of the inner peripheral brush seal faces the outer peripheral surface of the rotating shaft and is in contact with the outer peripheral surface. The free end of the outer peripheral brush seal faces the outer peripheral surface of the inner peripheral brush seal and, similarly, is in contact with the outer peripheral surface.
