Waste-water triplets from Wilo make joint debut Wilo Salmson is continuing to expand its product range with the launch of three new submersible pumps designed for waste water and sewage disposal applications in the domestic, industrial and commercial sectors. The new pumps include the Wilo-Drain TP40S, which is equipped with a special macerator unit to handle a variety of indiscriminately discharged materials including nylon rope, latex gloves, dishcloths and plastic bags. The TP50/65 series - available with a range of collecting tanks - is said to be particularly suitable for sewage and waste water duties in the domestic sector, while the TS is designed for surface de-watering on building sites and for applications in the industrial and process engineering industries. Wilo says the TP50/65 pumps can handle the disposal of solids up to 48 mm diameter and features include the use of stainless steel and composite materials to resist corrosion. In addition, the comp-
any offers the TP80/100/I50 to handle solids up to 80/100 mm diameter. The motors are manufactured to high tolerances and enclosed to IP 68, E ExdlIB T4 for use in Zone 1 atmospheres when used With the appropriate electrical controls.

High-torque, low-power Hagglunds Drives produces a range of direct hydraulic drives which do away with the need of gearboxes and present some very interesting benefits as a result of this. Hagglunds Drives has developed these drive systems to cater for the demands of specific applications to meet the technical and economic requirements. This customisation leads to more appropriate designs matched exactly to customer needs and thereby offers customers more choice and value. The new low power drives aimed particularly at low speed applications such as feeders have power up to 45 kW and torques up to 280 kNm. The package includes the drive motor with integral coupling and torque arm selected from four basic sizes M131-283, M131-400, MBL566 and M131-800. The power unit which is an open loop system with electric motor, fixed or variable displacement pump, tank unit and all needed conditioning and instrumentation items. Pipework and controls can also be provided if necessary along with comprehensive commissioning and service backup. These
drives offer full torque from start up and infinitely variable speed control. They are insensitive to shock loads and require very little maintenance. Full documentation including drawings, bill of materials, installation and maintenance manuals, spares lists and certificates are prepared to provide a professional high quality package. Hagglunds has also added four new sizes to its Viking motor range. The Viking motors are well known as a direct hydraulic drive mainly used for all kinds of winches, particularly applications where tension control is important. This is due to the extraordinary torque efficiency of 97% of this motor. The new sizes are 44-03300 (3.3 1/rev) 64-13500 (13.5 1/rev) 84-17900 (17.9 1/rev) and 84-21300 (21.3 1/rev). These new steps in the range enable more choice for customers and better possibilities.

Sanitary valve available in one-inch format
Captive acceleration tube kills cavitation
The reputable SRC range of sanitary remote controlled valves from Alfa Laval Flow has been extended to include a one-inch size, ensuring the SRC can be adapted to most installations. Available in automatic, manual and aseptic models, the SRC valve requires only a few simple moving parts for operation, making it extremely reliable. Its hygienic design allows stopping or diverting product flow in single or multi-directional systems. Other features include: product wetted parts made of AISI 316/EPDM; flexible installation; long process time due to few moving parts.
CAT Pumps has engineered an accessory that can be used with just about any pump to eliminate cavitation and its destructive and expensive results. Cavitation is the collapsing of gaseous formations in the liquid being pumped. The energy from the collapse or implosion of these gaseous formations causes erosion and pitting in the pump. This
reduces the performance of the pump and results in expensive repairs. The CAT (captive acceleration tube) virtually eliminates this condition. The concept has been under refinement and in field use with amazing results for over 20 years. The CAT stores the liquid energy and kicks it into the pump
precisely as needed to assure adequate liquid to each cylinder at the beginning of its stroke. Pulsation dampeners and flexible hoses both help inlet conditions, but with long feed lines, booster pumps and spiking return valves, the Cat Pumps device is claimed to be the only positive means of assuring a consistent inlet pressure to the pump. With a transducer you will immediately notice the smooth pressure trace of the flow into the pump equipped with a CAT. The device eliminates both the peaks and the valleys and provides a smooth, consistent inlet pressure, a variety of sizes in 316SS with both straight and elbow adapters make installation easy and relatively compact.
