HLA-Cw Allele Frequencies in a Population from the Niokholo Region of Senegal J.M. Tiercy*, Q.G. Steiner and A. Sanchez-Mazas University of Geneva, Switzerland E-mail: *
[email protected] This population from the Niokholo region of Eastern Senegal, Latitude 12.3N Longitude 12.0W consisted of 165 Black individuals. The individuals were drawn from a rural environment and alleles were determined using sequence specific oligonucleotide probes. The results have previously been published in Tissue Antigens 2000 56, 303–312. It was not possible to differentiate Cw*0401 from 0405 and 0802 from 0804. Frequency given under Cw*0401 and *0802 respectively. About 3,000 individuals distributed in a dozen villages constitute the Mandenka group, whose language belongs to the Mande branch of the Niger-Congo family.
