April 2012

Addition to Save Energy PD range at Interphex 2012 for Japanese market Ebara Corp has expanded its Save Energy (SE) pump series for the Japanese market with two new models. The new Ebara FDP-E (stainless steel centrifugal pump) and EVM-E (stainless steel vertical multistage pump) models are stainless steel surface pumps that employ premium efficiency motors. The FDP-E and EVM-E models join the LPD-B and FSD-B models released by Ebara in 2010 and will become standard models of the SE series. The SE series adds energy-saving functions to standard pumps. They are made of stainless steel and the motors are equivalent to the most efficient induction motors with a rating of IE3 according to IEC standards. As well as model LPD-B and FSD-B released in October 2010, the newly released model FDP-E and EVM-E will become standard models of the SE series. The new models satisfy the higher efficiency

levels required by pump facilities according to various regulations, guidelines and specifications which require higher efficiency in order to conserve energy. However, for the new models we have kept the price increases to below 20% of our current models. The EVML-E has a SUS316 specification and the EVMG-E has a cast iron/SUS304 specification. They feature a bore size of 25 to 100 mm and an output of 0.37 to 37 kW. Ebara will release the SE series for surface pumps, submersible pumps and booster units, at a later date.

Almatec will display its Quattroflow positive displacement (PD) pumps at INTERPHEX 2012, which will take place from 1-3 May 2012, in New York, NY, USA.

PP compound. The Quattroflow product line consists of four sizes – QF150, QF1200, QF4400 and QF20K – with capacities of 2.6 to 333 lpm (0.7 to 88 gpm).

Quattroflow PD pumps incorporate a four piston-diaphragm technology with no mechanical seals that is driven by an eccentric shaft and motor. They are suitable for multiple and single-use applications, in pharmaceutical and biotech industries where there is a need for high containment, purity and cleanability. They can transfer shear sensitive media of aqueous solutions and biological products without damage. Quattroflow pumps feature wetted housing parts constructed with electropolished 316L (Basel Standard II, ferrite content < 1%) stainless steel, while the valves are made of EPDM and the diaphragms of EPDM/

In addition, Almatec will also display its BIOCOR and E-Series diaphragm pumps at Intephex. Biocor pumps are suitable for applications with the highest purity, containment and cleanability requirements. They can assure sterility and handle products containing protein solutions, cellular structures, and other shear-sensitive products. Almatec’s solid block PTFE E-Series pumps are specifically designed for permanent applications and also single-use applications handling critical and even hazardous biopharmaceutical substances. The E-Series can be in advanced applications where high chemical compatability and full containment/leak free design are required. www.pumpsg.com

Hose pumps reduce stress Graco has developed a new series of hose pumps which use a single, oversized roller that compresses a low friction hose through a full 360 degrees of rotation. This design can put 40% less stress on the hose compared to conventional shoe pumps running at the same flow rate. The EP range can therefore offer a longer hose life when pumping corrosive, abrasive or sensitive materials for chemical metering, plating or yeast applications. “The versatility of our hose pumps allows them to be used in a wide variety of applications,” says Graco’s Walter Leeten, process marketing www.worldpumps.com

specialist. “The same pump can be used for various products without the need for hose changes or mechanical changes to the pump.” The pump also has 50% more fluid flow per revolution than C-shape positive displacement pumps. The EP series features a compact footprint for tight spaces and flexible placement, a removable cover for easy access to internal parts and a one-piece “quick change” hose clamp assembly for fast service. EP Series hose pumps are available in 3 sizes and can run at speeds as low as 1 rpm. www.graco.com
