instruction sheets. As this manual was a joint effort by many contributors, there often are several versions of discharge information sheets. Having multiple resources in one manual allows users to see the similarities and differences in discharge instructions, and at the same time look at various designs of discharge instruction sheets. If you use this manual as a reference to develop your own instruction sheets, you may select from several ideas to fit the needs of your organization. Those performing or assisting with a procedure for the first time could use this manual as a resource to quickly assemble information to share with patients on the procedure and discharge care. This manual also would be helpful in the comprehension of specific procedures. Many of the patient information sheets have diagrams that allow the reader to visualize the procedure. A wealth of information is contained in this manual. It is clearly written, easily understood, and designed for ease of use. Several of the discharge instruction sheets are written in Spanish, recognizing diverse patient populations. A facility with an established set of patient information sheets could use this information for benchmark comparisons, and a new facility would find it a wonderful resource for developing information to share with patients.
