FOCUS and Zeeospheres (ceramic microspheres). Towards the end of 2015, ET Horn took on three more distributorships – for Applied Minerals Inc, for Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) and for Color Corp of America (CCA). Applied Minerals produces halloysite (an aluminosilicate clay) and natural iron oxide products based on ores from its Dragon mine in the Tintic Mountains district of Utah. The administrative offices of the mining venture are located in the town of Eureka (120 km south of Salt Lake City, UT). Halloysite has a naturally occurring nanotubular structure and it has good biocompatibility characteristics. In addition to serving the traditional halloysite markets for use in technical ceramics and catalytic applications, Applied Minerals has developed a number of niche applications that benefit from the tubular morphology of its halloysite. These applications include carriers of active ingredients in paints, coatings and building materials, flame retardants, molecular sieves, controlled-release and other agricultural applications, environmental remediation, and highperformance additives and fillers for plastic composites. Applied Minerals markets its halloysite products under the Dragonite brandname. The goethite and haematite ores in the Dragon deposit are described as the world's purest in situ resource of natural iron oxide, with very low levels of impurities. Applied Minerals markets natural iron oxide, mainly for pigmentary applications, under the Amiron brandname. ET Horn will distribute Dragonite and Amiron products throughout the western US and in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. EPS supplies water-borne acrylic, styrene-acrylic and alkyd resins, while CCA supplies pigment dispersions and colorants for the architectural and industrial paints industry. EPS and CCA are under common ownership. CCA's headquarters are at Louisville, KY and the company has a manufacturing facility there plus plants at Rockford, IL and at Dongguan, Guangdong province, China. EPS's headquarters are at Marengo, IL and the company has manufacturing facilities here and at four other locations within the US. ET Horn will distribute products from EPS and CCA throughout the West February 2016

Imerys buys BASF’s paper-grade hydrous kaolin business
Pagliara to sell for Silberline in Italy
On 2 November 2015, BASF and Imerys closed the transaction for the sale of BASF's business in hydrous kaolin for the paper industry. The sale included the kaolin processing plant in Wilkinson County, Georgia (150 km southwest of Augusta) – often referred to as the "Gibraltar Mill.'' To facilitate a smooth transition for customers, BASF will continue to manufacture and supply paper-grade hydrous kaolin to Imerys under a tolling agreement of limited (but unspecified) duration. BASF will continue to own and operate its other assets in Georgia, including kaolin reserves, mining and production facilities as well as a slurry facility in Ghent (Belgium).
