IMMUNOTOXICOLOGY is a new section of the journal TOXICOLOGY devoted to the publication of original papers and peer reviews dealing with any adverse interference of chemicals, including drugs, with the immune system: immunosuppression, hypersensitivity, auto-immunity, immune-mediated side-effects of drugs, toxicity of immunomodulating and immunotherapeutic agents. All aspects of this rapidly expanding field will be considered: basic research, new methods, mechanistic studies, pre-clinical investigations, human studies, clinical case reports, risk assessment, regulatory affairs. The section is intended to be the largest possible forum among health specialists concerned with immunotoxicology. The following topics will be considered for publication: -

fundamental studies on the mechanism(s) of xenobiotics-induced immunotoxic effects. pre-clinical animal studies. development of new methods (particularly in vitro techniques), standardization and/or validation of existing methods/protocols. human studies including investigations of xenobiotics-induced immune-mediated adverse effects in man, clinical case reports and epidemiological studies. risk assessment of immunotoxicity.
