New Section on Bio-lnorganic Chemistry Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry
In recent years, inorganic and nuclear chemists have increasingly turned their attention to problems of biological interest. It is, therefore, the intention of the Editors and Publishers of the Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry to provide a vehicle for the dissemination of research in inorganic and nuclear chemistry that is directed to problems of interest in the life sciences. In the beginning, this will take the form of a Section of the Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry. Typical subject matter considered suitable will include: coordination compounds of biological interest; metalloenzymes containing regular and transition metals; photosynthetic and respiratory pigments; oxidationreduction reactions of transition metal ions in biological systems; model systems, as for example in nitrogen fixation and photosynthesis; prebiotic phenomena; and related topics. Studies by infrared, nuclear magnetic and electron spin resonance, MiSssbauer, Raman, electronic transition and photoelectron spectroscopy will be welcomed as will contributions on thermo-dynamic and kinetic aspects of these systems. The Section Editors of Bio-Inorganic Chemistry will encourage the publication and welcome the submission of short reviews on topics in BioInorganic Chemistry which are of current interest to research workers in these fields. It would normally be a requirement that the work reported on should have an Inorganic and/or Nuclear Chemistry component. An important feature of this new section will be rapidity of publication. Additions to the Editorial Staff and Board of the Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry are being made to provide expert editorial reviewing services and guidance for the new section on Bio-Inorganic Chemistry. So far, R. H. Prince, B. L. Vallee, H. Diebler, D. Leussing and Y. Matsushima have agreed to participate. Additional appointments of Regional Editors and Editorial Board members are contemplated. Manuscripts should be submitted either to R. H. Prince, University Chemical Laboratory, Lensfield Road, Cambridge CB2 1EW, England or J. J. Katz, Chemistry Division, Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Illinois, 60439, U.S.A.
