Engineering design centre for plastics The first engineering design centre in Europe for users of plastics products, mouldmakers and processors was opened at Newhaven, Sussex, UK, in October 1972. It is called the Independent Plastics Engineering Centre (IPEC) and its main activity will be the designing, specifying and proving of tools for plastics products. IPEC, Avis Way, Newhaven, Sussex, UK

IRI/PI merger studied Professor James Topping, former ViceChancellor, Brunel University, is to consider the feasibility and, if thought appropriate, devise a scheme for the amalgamation of the Institution of the Rubber Industry and the Plastics Institute. Mr E. W. Madge for the IRI and Mr P. A. Delafield for the PI will advise Professor Topping. Any recommendations and proposals resulting from this investigation will be submitted to the respective Presidents and Councils for .their consideration prior to being sent to all members for their dei:ision.
