IO-key International, a company producing wireless public safety and finger-based biometric identification solutions, is to sell its Law Enforcement Division to InterAct911 Mobile Systems. The sale, which is subject to customary closing conditions, including BIO-key shareholder approval, is designed to raise capital and to allow BIO-key to take advantage of the rapidly growing biometric market by focusing on its biometric solutions. he global biometric market could grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around 18% between 2010 and 2012, according to findings from research firm RNCOS. ÊÌÃÊiÜÊÀi«ÀÌʼL>Ê iÌÀVÊÀiV>ÃÌÊÌÊ 2012’, the firm says increasing security concerns ranging from individual identity theft and corporate security to national security are driving the global biometric market. The contest, co-sponsored by Microsoft, encourages software developers to utilize the Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) to build applications that make use of notebook computers with integrated fingerprint sensors as well as USB peripheral fingerprint readers. Submissions to the Worldwide Biometric Challenge will be judged for their innovativeness, usefulness, usability and utilization of the WBF. Submissions are due 9 November 2009 and winners will be announced 16 November 2009.
