New heterogeneous catalyst kit Alfa Aesar is pleased to announce the new Heterogeneous Catalyst Kit - developed by Johnson Matthey Catalysis and Chiral Technologies is now available. The new Heterogeneous Catalyst Kit provides instant availability to 40 different types of catalysts. These products are based on precious metals and have an optimized combination of metal and support for excellent performance. The effective metalsupport combination of the new Heterogeneous Catalyst 40 Sample Kit covers a complete range of catalytic reactions involving hydrogen. An application table provided in each kit enables the user to select appropriate catalysts for screening applications. Also available is the Mini Advanced Homogeneous Coupling Kit, which is designed for challenging C-C coupling reactions, amination, alpha ketone arylation, etc., using sterically hindered substrates. This kit includes a Catalytic Reaction & Coupling Reference Guide and contains 1 gram samples. PATENTS Process for increasing aromatics production One of a series of patents assigned to UOP that describes improved processes for upgrading petroleum naphtha to aromatics. This patent describes a parallel train configuration that uses common feed and separation steps. The proposed process separates a lighter naphtha fraction from a heavier naphtha fraction then uses more severe catalytic conditions to treat the lighter naphtha to improve selectivity towards benzene, toluene, and xylenes before recombining the lighter and heavier reformate for aromatics separation. In situ radio frequency catalytic upgrading Radio frequency energy is used to generate heat in conjunction with a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst situated in or on the drill string pipe. The objective is in situ upgrading of hydrocarbons in a reservoir that is being produced. US 9,004,164, ConocoPhillips Company, Houston, TX, USA, 14 Apr 2015

Selective catalytic reduction catalyst system A two stage process for conversion of nitrogen oxides to N2 and water. The first catalyst promotes lower N2O formation and higher N2 formation than the second catalyst US 9,017,626, BASF Corporation, Florham Park, NJ, USA, 28 Apr 2015

Method for restoring activity to a spent hydroprocessing catalyst, a spent hydroprocessing catalyst having restored catalytic activity, and a hyrdoprocessing process Used hydroprocessing catalysts are treated to burn off carbon and then

are reactivated using a chelating agent and an amine. Upon heating the supported metal catalyst activity returns to the original level. US 9,029,281, Shell Oil Company, Houston, TX, USA, 12 May 2015
