The p a p e r r e p o r t e d a feasibility study of t h e injection moulding of WC-Co t o o t h caps on to 4600 steel for use in roller cone drill bits. The t o o t h caps were m a d e by MIM a n d b o n d e d to t h e steel body using t h e Ceracon process. The steel was s i m u l t a n e o u s l y densified. Low cost tooling was used for t h e MIM.

Mashl et al, (Michigan Technological Univ, Michigan, USA) The effects of MnS, up to 0.3wt%, in steel, powder forged to a density of 7.85 g / c m a or more a n d with less t h a n 0.2% porosity were investigated. The d e t r i m e n t a l effects of MnS were discussed in terms of the m i c r o s t r u c t u r e in pearlitic a n d t e m p e r e d m a r t e n s i t i c steel.
