Center for Medical Technology Assessment A Center for Medical Technology Assessment was recently established in collaboration between Linkoping University and the &tergotland County Council in Sweden. The Center aims at: developing a long-term knowledge base and methodology pertinent to medical technology assessment; initiating, supporting and undertaking medical technology assessment in a joint medical, economic and social perspective; identifying areas of medical technology in need of comprehensive evaluation in terms of costs and benefits, safety, diffusion potential and also relevant social and ethical consequences; organizing and supporting courses, seminars, conferences and information exchange and dissemination within the field; and an increased understanding between the research staff, health care staff and policy makers in the health care sector. Assessment

Intensive Course on Health Program Evaluation The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine of Montreal University is organizing in Montreal, from 2 to 20 June 1986, its 6th International Intensive and Integrated Course on “Methods in Public Health”. The program, presented in French, is open to all health professionals interested in the evaluation of health programs. It intends to show them how to prepare and evaluate results. The course will stress the interface between health administration, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics and other allied sciences in this field.
