ANNOUNCEMENT

I n t e r n a t i o n a l C o n f e r e n c e on P l a n e t a r y Satellites A conference covering all aspects of natural satellites of the solar system will be held August 20-23, 1974 at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, U.S.A., under I.A.U. and COSPAR sponsorship. The meeting will bring together specialists in the various fields of satellite astronomy: celestial mechanics, physical properties, origin and evolution. I.A.U. Colloquium 28 will have invited review papers given by leading authorities; these papers will compile, discuss and interpret the masses of data which have been accumulated recently and then attempt to develop a broad understanding of the origin and subsequent evolution of the natural satellites. Contributed papers on any area of satellite studies, with the exception of papers dealing exclusively with the Moon, may be submitted. Abstracts of less than 200 words should be submitted in a form suitable for offset printing by May 15, 1974. Manuscripts based upon approved abstracts are due for refereeing on June 15, 1974. The conference proceedings will be published. Limited travel funds may be available. To apply for admission or to receive more information, write to Joseph A. Burns, 111 Thurston Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York 14850, U.S.A. or call 607-2564077 or 607-256-5062.
