Ultrasaund give us the opportunity to get excellent visualisation of the pathomorphological chanqes et the gallbladder wall. lie present 18 patients wth GB carcinoma. In 14 (75%) of the all patients the main diagnostic sign wasS the hyperechgenicity TU on the GB waal with prominance into the GB interior, without In 4 (25%) of the patient accustic shadowing. the layers of the GB were thikened more than 5 m m and laminated, with irregularity of the mucosal folds. USfindingS were computed tomography and surgically confirmed. US is modality of choice in the investigation of the GB carcinoma. Radiological termS of nonvisuaalized gallbladrr do not apply to a well performed US Using State-of-the-art facilities.

Doppler ultrasound of the portal vein, hepatic artery and right hepatic win, together with measummentof portal vein diameter and spleen length, W B Sundertaken in 26 patients with establishedprimary biiiaq cirrhosis (PBC) and 25 normal control subjects. The values obtained in the PBC patients were compared with a range of liver fimction tests, histological grading of their liver diseaseand the ultrasound findings in the control group There were no significant differences in any of the measuredvariables between the PBC patients and controls. The bigbest correlation between the ultmsmmd measurementsand the laboratory findings in the F’BC patients wss hewzen spleen size and bistoloogicalstaging with Bn r value of 0 78. Positive correlations were also obtained between age and hqttic atmy resistance index, spleensize and biiirubin level. None of the other variables showed any correlation. The value ofbilixubii BSan indicator of diseaseseverity was estimated by comparing biliibii levels with all c&r laboratory findings. There was a weak negative correlation with albumin and a very weak positive correlation with the AST level. We conclude that Doppler variables measuredin this study do not contribute to tbe managementof patients with PBC.
