Crimping solution for secure separation of sterile assemblies US-based Millipore Corporation has introduced a new crimping system for use with single-use disposable assemblies. It has been developed for the biopharmaceutical industry to provide an accurate, easy-to-use and safe single-use system for use when sampling, transporting or transferring fluid. It will also ensure that sterility is maintained and the fluid is securely protected from the outside environment. The NovaSeal is part of the Mobius family of disposable bioprocessing technologies.

It combines a patented crimping tool and tubing pinch pipes that are pre-mounted on the tubing of the Mobius disposable assembly. The manual crimping tool first crimps the metallic pinch pipe, ensuring a proper seal, then cuts the tubing into two sterile fluid paths. Takeover reunites family companies The Beldam companies that manufacture packings and rubber seals have been reunited 117 years after a family dispute caused a split. The Beldam group of companies started life at the end of the 19th century, making marine seals for the British Admiralty, but a falling out in the Beldam family took Beldam Lascar away from the rest; it has been operating independently for 117 years. After several mergers with other companies in the rubber seals business the other Beldam

companies became subsidiaries of Pexion, while Beldam Lascar continued to operate independently. Now Pexion has taken over Beldam Lascar. The various Beldam companies in the group now include; Beldam Bergmann, Beldam Crossley, Beldam Plasmar, Beldam Lascar and MacLellan Rubber.
