IOTADERMA #161 What is Texier’s syndrome, and what is its cause? Robert I. Rudolph, MD, FACP Answer will appear in the July issue of the Journal.

MAY IOTADERMA (#160) What is emperipolesis, and in what disease with cutaneous manifestations is it constantly present? Answer: Emperipolesis is a pathologic finding in which histiocytes contain whole, or fragments of, lymphocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils, and plasma cells. It is a constant finding in RosaieDorfman disease (sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy), but can be detected in other conditions, such as chronic lymphatic leukemia, CreutzfeldteJakob disease, and Schimke immuno-osseous dysplasia, and many other organ systems, such as the brain, kidney, and bone marrow.
